Privacy Policy for the Scanyro App

The protection of your personal data is important to us. This privacy policy explains which data is processed within the Scanyro app, for what purposes this occurs, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The app is intended for users in the European Economic Area (EEA). However, it may also be used outside the EU.

4.1 Camera Access

The app requires access to your device's camera in order to scan QR codes and barcodes. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (consent).

4.2 Locally Stored Data (SQLite)

The app stores certain data (e.g., scanned codes or app settings) exclusively locally on your device using a SQLite database.

4.3 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. The following data may be processed: Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR (consent and legitimate interest of Google/us for advertising). You can disable personalized ads through the Google settings on your device.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Our app uses Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. AdMob is used to display advertisements within the app. Information about the use of the app as well as device information (e.g., device ID, IP address, operating system, approximate location information, and interactions with ads) may be processed. This data may be used by Google to provide personalized or non-personalized advertisements. Google may also transfer this information to third parties if required by law or if third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Data processing is carried out based on your consent, provided that this consent is requested via the corresponding consent banner.

You can disable personalized advertising in your device settings:
Android: Settings > Google > Ads > "Opt out of Ads Personalization"
iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking

6. Data Sharing

Data processed in connection with AdMob advertising may be transferred to Google in the United States. The transfer takes place based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). No further transfer of personal data takes place.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Aside from AdMob, the app does not use cookies, web tracking technologies, or comparable methods.

8. Push Notifications

The app does not send push notifications.

9. Data Transfer to Third Countries

Personal data is transferred to countries outside the EU or the EEA only in the context of AdMob, as described above.

10. Data Retention

All data stored locally on your device remains there until you uninstall the app or delete the data. Data processed for AdMob is subject to Google's data retention policies.

11. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Since personal data is mostly processed locally or via AdMob, these rights can particularly be exercised by uninstalling the app or via the Google settings.

13. Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement.

14. Children's Privacy

The app is not specifically directed at children under the age of 16. Personal data of minors is not knowingly processed.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy in order to comply with legal requirements or to reflect changes in the app’s functionality. The current version is available in the app or at the respective location.
